Eagles & Butterflies Flying High

When We Dip
Tech House
8 October 2013

It’s no secret that we’re big fans of the burgeoning talent that is Eagles & Butterflies so it was with great delight we sat down to review his most recent output Spread Your Wings 002. This is the second release on his very own imprint which has been getting props from the likes of Richie Hawtin, John Digweed and many other bigwigs of late.

The four part EP continues the fine run of form for a man who spent the summer heavily invested in the studio while also holding down a residency at acclaimed underground night Clandestin – Space alongside Felix Da Housecat. A techier dynamic than his previous release Spread Your Wings 002 really packs a punch. Tech belter Dice is the first one that caught our attention a throbbing base driver complete with a tidy little vocal. Get It Get It takes things slightly more progressive while also indulging in some of that trademark snappy percussion we’ve become accustomed to from the London based producer. Aside from that Sticky Knickers is a tasty little number remarkable for the careful placement of some well treated flutes. Bringing it all together is the wonderful Loco, a fine underlying bassline with some carefully places samples makes this an aural treat that is sure to get even the most stubborn of dancefloors grooving.

All in all an impressive release from one we have tipped as a rising star. We’ve also included his set from the recent Bedrock 15 party at Ministry, get amongst it!

Spread Your Wings 002 is out today on Beatport.
