This Saturday sees the return of one of Ireland’s finest and favourite exports. She takes the helm of BBC R1 on Friday evenings from 7 and kicks off the weekend in style from the studio but her dj skills in the club setting are just as impressive. If you’re lucky enough to have a ticket we’re sure you’ll find that out! Sure to be coming with a stalwart selection of tracks off her recently released 2013 AMP Compilation, the crowd are most definitely going to be pleased.
However also on show for her AMP show in the Academy are only two of the hottest talents in electronic music today. Cyril Hahn and Duke Dumont. The former has had a whirlwind year seeing the Vancouver resident bring his sounds on multiple tours across the globe. His productions hit the nail on the head each time and Perfect Form is the latest one to have done the rounds. With a catchy vocal hook and the usual sublime production from Cyril, it was an instant hit with his following. With a couple of sell out stops in Dublin already it’s only fitting its another sell out this Saturday.
Duke Dumont also had a very productive 2013. He kicked things in the wake of the success of The Giver release and this year saw him go from strength to strength. His track co-written with MNEK ‘Need You’ (100%) was eagerly awaited and the hype was deserved. Upon release it shot to number 1 spot in the UK charts. It’s success and accessibility saw it get a couple of tidy remix’s too. The Skream remix was delightful altogether! What followed was worldwide tour dates for this busy man also and stops in the studio proved very productive. To the delight of the fans tracks such as ‘Hold On’ featuring vocals from MNEK were the outcome. Luckily in attendance on Saturday will be the talented British singer who’s rendition of Hold On will be a tasty treat.
Also on the billing is Lulu James. This vocalist has been dubbed the ‘new diva of electronic soul’ by The Guardian. Lulu being the voice of the show sings upon the productions of Domzilla, a producer she met on a music course. It’s a powerful combination and the best piece to date from this deadly duo has been Closer. It will certainly whet the appetite early on in The Academy.
So it’s all pointing to being the first Christmas cracker of the season and if we pose her very own question, ‘are you raving or behaving’? Come Saturday we’re most definitely raving!
