Owen Thomas – Always Down/The Disco

When We Dip
Deep House, House
5 November 2013

We’ve featured the fine works of talented young Irish producer Owen Thomas Begley before when his Vision EP found its way onto our radar, well,  he’s popped up again. Producing with the name Owen Thomas, the Kilkenny native sure knows how to piece together a tune. We’ve recognised it and Toolroom Records certainly recognised it (His track Be Your Love  featured on Toolroom Goes Deep 3 alongside the likes of Dusky, Hot Since 82 and Ejeca to name but a few).

Now he’s gone and grabbed our attention again with his latest installment. It’s a cracking two track EP out now on Different Attitudes Records. ‘The Disco’  is the faster of the two deep house groovers. With a warm rumbling bassline and silky smooth vocals hidden in the back, this really is a lovely track.

However, our preference is for the lead track Always Down, a slower but even groovier affair. The house vibes really resonate off this one and we can definitely picture it going down a storm in those clubs. A Dublin booking on the cards? We hope so. Deserved.
