WWD 014 – Greg Gow

Interviews, Techno
10 December 2014

Greg Gow is a Toronto native we’re all too familiar with here at WWD. After catching him a couple of times over there in 2011 we followed his productions closely. 2013 saw the release of Darkest Hour and he’s finishing 2014 strongly with Mar Del on Marc Romboy’s 10 Yrs Systematic Compilation and his upcoming remix for Oniris on KMS is sounding massive. All this is on top of massive productions such as The Bridge, Fourth Dimension and The Matrix so we were only delighted to round up this maestro for WWD014. Sit back and enjoy..deep techno vibes!

  • You’re finishing off 2014 strong. What’s been the highlight of 2014 for you?

Playing Argentina, Columbia and UAE for the first time.
Having my main room residence once a month in Toronto at Guvernment.
Plus finally coming out late this December my 2014 update of Chez Damier Untitled B will be out on Kevin Saunderson’s Elevate Your Mind Compilation on KMS (Dec.15)

  • You’ve a tasty slot at Creamfields Abu Dhabi on Friday. Looking forward to it no doubt. Have you played out there before? If so, what was it like? If not, what are you expecting ?

This will be the first time in Abu Dhabi. I am expecting a full scale production. Looking forward to playing the festival. Its gonna be fun to work the crowd:)

  • We’ve been to Guv, CODA back when it was Footwork, and we even caught your good self in Comfort Zone. What’s your favourite club to play at in TO and why?

Each of the above have really cool aspects. But nothing beats main room Guv when it is going off.

  • The scene in Toronto is quite strong. We caught lots of talented DJs during our time there, The Junkies, Jonathan Rosa and in particular Nathan Barato being examples. Nathan’s had a huge 2014. Are there any other names we should look out for?

For deeper Techno Basic Soul Unit is making a great name for himself at the moment.
So I would def check him out.

  • Your favourite track of 2014? if you can nail it down to just one..

Too many to choose from so not gonna give one more love then the other lol.

  • If you ever needed to rescue a dance floor, what track would you reach for?

Really depends on the event, space, crowd, vibe etc.

  • Finally, tell us a bit about your mix for us? Is this what we could expect to hear you bash out in a club at the moment? Any unreleased work in there?

The mix contains some tracks i am really into at the moment. It starts out slow and builds and reflects my sound Toronto and Detroit influences.
