Limerick native Ian O’Donovan returns to Kevin Saunderson’s iconic Detroit imprint KMS this week with a standout three track EP. ‘Saharan Sunset’ is the lead on the release, a track which first caught our eye via Thump/Vice, who deservedly sang the praises of the talented Irish producer. It’s a powerful melodic techno cut with a distinct ethic vibe and a real summer to it. An anthem to lead us out from the dark days of winter.
Samuel L Session returns on the remix after smashing it with a previous O’Donovan rework of ‘Medera’. He scales things up big things, reshaping the track into a heavy hitting, techno weapon.
Closing out the EP is ‘Coral’, a real hidden gem. The vibes are progressive with the cut very much distinguished by its scintillating arpeggiators and soft, wavering synthlines. With great energy and strong soul behind it, it’s sure to resonate with the hardcore O’Donovan fans.
