Following the release of their brand new 20/20 Vision EP ‘Smokin Bull’, German duo Luna City Express take five from an intense schedule to chat with When We Dip. The former Gruuv and Moon Harbour boys have jumped on board for the latest episode of the Select Cuts series. In addition to providing an exquisite and exclusive sixty minute mix, the guys have shared their thoughts on the close of 2015, the biggest records this year and all that’s upcoming in Berlin.
Thanks for joining us guys!
Start us off with a fact nobody knows about the Luna City Express!
If nobody knows so far, then it might be for a good reason, isn’t it? Or there just might be none…
Where in the world are you right now and what has your schedule been like this week?
We’re in Berlin right now, our home-base. On this week’s schedule is a mix between quality time with the family, studio work and some sports activities.
Talk to us about the new 2020 Vision release! Where did you guys put the tracks together? Has it been long in the making?
We created the entire release here in Marco’s studio in Berlin. All ideas are at least 2 years old and we’ve finally managed to put the finishing touches on them this year.
You’re firmly entrenched with the Moon Harbour crew. What can you tell us about your relationship with Matthias Tanzmann? Where did you guys first meet?
We are working with Moon Harbour now since more than 10 years and we have a very friendly relationship to the label crew as well as to Matthias. Unfortunately we don’t see each other very often because he lives in Leipzig and we in Berlin, but when we’re touring together it’s always big fun to play and travel with him.
Marco: I met Matthias here in Berlin at his residency at the former Sternradio club during 2000. That’s also when I gave him my first-ever demo tape.
Norman: I guess that it must have been around the same time somewhere in Thuringia where I actually come from.
Our guilty pleasure – What were your three biggest records of the year so far?
1. Mathias Kaden’s new album „Energetic“ on Freude Am Tanzen
2. Our 10 Years Of Luna City Express remix compilation on Moon Harbour
3. Feindrehstar – Love & Hoppiness on Musik Krause
Looking at the rest of 2015, where does your focus lie?
To spend as much time as possible with our families and enjoy the weekends.
In terms of gigs and music, what else can we expect from you in the coming months?
In terms of gigs we will play some additional 15 Years Of Moon Harbour tour dates like at Watergate in Berlin and Rave On Snow Festival in Austria. In terms of music we’ll try to finish all the stuff that has to be done until the end of the year like a remix for Kevin Yost on i! Records and one for Patrick Testor on Brise Recordings.
Lastly, talk us through the mix you’ve recorded for us!
It’s like always a mix between old and new stuff. We’ve also included ‘Morning Song’ and ‘Smoking Bull’ from our 2020 Vision release.
