A few months after the release of their This is B.R.O.N.X EP, the Daylight Robbery Records bosses Jojo Angel and Matteo Rosolare are back with a bang. Taking us back in time, the 1967 EP out on Amplified Records packs a powerful punch with a short but sweet number of tracks that deliver wavy basslines and hard hitting drops. Brace yourselves, it’s time to go back a few years.

Kicking off the EP is the title track 1967. An eerie sounding vocal sample asks us what happened in 1967, before being faded in and out to give that classic excited feel before the drop. Hi hats come in sporadically, leading into crashing cymbals as the driving, bouncy bassline is brought in. The groovy rhythm continues with a resonating echo in the background, providing that classic techy vibe that always delivers. Even people in the 60s would be raving out to this one.

Rounding off the EP is 1967 (Martinez and Quadelli remix). Using the same vocal sample, this track draws upon the acid house style to create a funky sounding bassline with a driving punch. The hi hats are set at a fast tempo, while the bassline moves from a low to high pitch, building the song up until the drop hits home hard. It’s a solid reworking of the original by the two lads from Manchester.

If anyone can advocate quality over quantity, then it’s the guys over at Daylight Robbery Records. In just two tracks the house music spectrum gets covered with naughty drops and driving basslines that stir up a dirty urge to dance. We said last time that these two would be smashing the scene for a while to come and, judging by this most recent EP, we were certainly right.
