Following a brief taster on the 09 compilation, UK powerhouse Anjunadeep make a full introduction to Swedish producer Hosini. The Stockholm-based artist’s debut EP Syna arrives November 10th with three lush melodic groovers. Not only can you check out our pick of the bunch ‘Laomedeia’ in full premiere exclusively on When We Dip today, you can also enjoy our quick chat with the man behind the music. It’s all below!
WWD: How are you today?
I’m great, just preparing myself for the cold but beautiful winter of Sweden with a warm cup of tea!
WWD: Can you share with us the influencs behind your new ‘Syna’ EP on Anjunadeep?
My main influence for this EP was the nature which you can hear in the tracks. The production process for all tracks started with some elements from the nature and then I just let my imagination take it from there. My musical influences usually comes from different genres and not necessarily from the genre intended for my tracks.
WWD: ‘Syna’ also featured on the ninth edition of the famed Anjunadeep compilation from Jody Wisternoff and James Grant. Where were you when you heard the news that the track would be includede on the release?
I was at home with a cold so it was a pleasant surprise and helped me with my recovery.
WWD: Can you share with us your three favourite Anjuna tracks of all time?
Tough one, on the top of my head:
P8 & Answer42 – Fragments (Guy J Remix)
16 Bit Lolitas – Deep In My Soul
Ryan Davis – Brun (Luca Bacchetti Endless Remix)
WWD: When did your relationship with electronic music and production first begin?
My relationship with electronic music started maybe 6 years ago. I grew up listening a lot to Michael Jackson, Lauryn Hill, Bob Marley, Hans Zimmer and many more. It was a mixture of many different genres. I got into both electronic music and production at the same time. I heard a house record and I was super curious to find out what instrument they used in the specific track and I started to do some research with the intention to find the instrument and it ended up in a tutorial of how to make that sound using music software. From that moment I got hooked.
WWD: You’re embarking on the early steps of Hosini’s journey in music. What is the vision guiding your artist project?
Music has always been a way of expressing my emotions and my vision is too keep it that way. Everything positive happening around the artist project I can just see as a bonus 🙂
WWD: What do you think are the essential ingredients for fostering a long-term bond between an artist and their followers?
Hmm…I think keep making good music is a way to start and of course be kind and always treat others the way you want to be treated no matter if you are the follower or the artist.
WWD: Are there any elements of Stockholm inspiring you right now?
A lot. Stockholm has beautiful nature and art. Just by visiting the subway you get to witness maybe the world longest art exhibit. I think a lot of people do not appreciate it enough but when you visit some other countries you can really notice the difference.
WWD: If you could have an extra 4 hours in the day, what would you spend it doing?
I would probably produce more music and spend more time with family and friends.
WWD: Best piece of advice you have received recently?
Don’t give up what you want most for what you want now
WWD: We’re very excited to share the full premiere of ‘Laomedeia’ today. Can you share with us where your head was at as you were putting the track together?
I started with the project about a year ago and I had the initial idea written down. Then I forgot about the project and accidentally found it again when looking for projects I was going to delete. I still felt that the track could turn into something nice and finished it relatively fast.
WWD: Can we expect more new music from you in the near future?
Yes, Im just getting started 🙂
Hosini’s Syna EP is set for release on November 10th.
