Guy Gerber is a man that needs little introduction. The Israeli producer and dj has been a leading light in the electronic scene over the last decade. He has rocked dance-floors around the world, collaborated with the likes of Dixon and Puff Daddy and cemented Rumors as a global imprint and event series. June 17 saw the esteemed artist deliver a soothing new rework just in time for the Summer season.
Gerber has put his deft touch to ‘Don’t Call’ from Canadian electronic band Desire (known for their releases on LA label Italians Do It Better). Fusing the mesmerising vocals from the original cut with a a firm, deep groove and entrancing atmospherics, he’s presented a much desired and therapeutic affront to the test of recent times.
“As a fan of Guy Gerber, it’s an honor to have him remix “Don’t Call”, one of my favorite Desire songs. Recorded in snowy Montreal weather, it now finds a second life under Guy’s touch ready for the hot sweaty summer nights” – Megan Louise of Desire
“I’m a huge fan of anything that goes out in Italians Do It Better, but that song really touched me; the voice, the lyrics. I made all the drums and the new synth lines on a flight to Rio. Since then it became my favorite song of the year.” – Guy Gerber
The remix comes as Desire release their own new album, Escape, eleven years after their 2009 debut II. Escape is again produced by Chromatic’s Johnny Jewel and will be released by Italians Do it Better this Summer.
