WWD: How did you start your career as a DJ & producer?
It’s been 10 years now since I’ve been immersed in the world of electronic music. When I take stock of these first 10 years, I have to say that I am rather proud and satisfied with what I have accomplished, but I know that the best is yet to come. I’m bubbling with ideas in my head, so it’s time to step up a gear, my motivation is at its peak.
WWD: How would you describe your musical style and what makes it unique?
It’s quite complex to define your style, but I always have my personal touch according to the trends. At the beginning it was minimal techno that was in vogue, now we’re in a vibe that’s more oriented towards deep house, tech house, organic.
I think that in the way I compose with my approach in the studio and my stage performances, I have a fairly unique style. I like to play groovy but with mystical, melodic and hypotonic touches, even if the number one goal is to make people dance. That’s what I love about this job, making people dance and seeing them smile and enjoy my music. When you succeed in doing that, you know you’ve accomplished your mission for the party.
WWD: What are your upcoming musical projects?
I have a 3-track EP coming up in collaboration with composer Marcan Liav on Nick Warren’s label, The Soundgarden. This release should be out this year at the end of the summer. Probably for an Indian summer!
At the same time, I have a lot of other projects in progress, I am currently in the studio composing.
WWD: Can you tell us about your recent and upcoming performances?
Yes, the last gig that blew me away was my performance at the Rainbow Café in Saint-Martin in early April. The atmosphere was incredible, I hadn’t played on the island for a year and the beach club was full of people who came to listen to me, it was really great! The last Enigma hotel gig was also very cool, I was able to do the closing, and I actually recorded my set which will be online soon!
WWD: What are the places or events where you would like to play soon?
We are currently working on my next tour in the USA/Canada. I have to say that I am really looking forward to reconnecting with the audiences in New York and Miami, and I want to explore other cities in the USA, and of course Montreal, where I have a large community that has been waiting for me for years, so I can’t wait to perform for them.
WWD: Can you tell us more about your festival L’Amour à la plage in Martinique?
I launched L’Amour à la plage in May 2019 in Martinique. We will be holding our tenth edition on May 27th with a special guest, the king POPOF. I have to say that I’m excited, this evening should go down in history. And for the first time, I will be doing a 4-hour B2B set with my friend Owlïsh. Don’t miss this event!
WWD: Can you tell us more about the Enigma Experience project that you launched with composer Marcan Liav in the south of France?
When you come to an Enigma party, you know that you’re going to let go 100%. We made the radical choice to ban cell phones. The idea is to be able to reconnect people with each other and to fully enjoy the music. Photos and videos are prohibited. At our parties, you won’t find videographers or photographers, you have to live the Enigma experience to understand it. We are currently working on the next events that should take place next summer and autumn.
WWD: How do you manage the organization of these projects alongside your music career?
I navigate between metropolitan France and the Caribbean, and for now, I like the balance that I have been able to find. I regularly make round trips, which allows me to stay connected to both Europe and the Americas. Depending on the period, the encounters, and the projects, I manage to organize everything as well as possible in order to give people as much pleasure as possible. I like to give!
WWD: How would you describe the electronic music scene in the Caribbean currently?
The electronic music scene in the Caribbean is booming, there are more and more events compared to when I started in 2019. This is a good sign, it shows the openness that people have for this style of music. I try to bring renewed experiences of partying with my teams while keeping the essence of electronic music.
WWD: What are the emerging musical trends in this region?
In the Caribbean, it’s very rhythmic, groovy, and sexy. There are more and more purists mixing with locals, which gives an explosive vibe to our parties.
WWD: Are there any emerging Caribbean artists that you would recommend listening to?
Without hesitation, Owlïsh, an emerging artist based in Saint-Martin. You can listen to him on May 27th in Martinique at L’Amour à la plage, where we will be doing a B2B set together.
