A new album, a new era for Adam Beyer and his music. The revered Swedish producer, DJ, and label head of Drumcode and Truesoul has consistently pushed the boundaries of techno in his own 30+ years of releases, while his imprints have launched many new artists and boosted the clout of major stars. Now, he announces a new studio album for summer release, ‘Explorer Vol. 1,’ presaged by title track single ‘Explorer,’ which is out now.
‘Explorer Vol. 1’… that ‘Vol.1’ acting as a tantalizing hint of things to come, with Adam showcasing his inspiration from his whole past creative journey whilst continuing to explore different sounds and new genres. It reflects permutations of Adam’s headspace and who he is, celebrating his personal interests and influences including in sci-fi, both musically and visually. A new age for Adam Beyer, after a prolific slew of superb EPs, singles, and collabs which have spanned 20 years since his last LP.
‘Explorer’ (the single) is a metallic chain of notes accompanied by techno beats & hi-hats, with deep bass stabs and snatches of chopped spoken word. The growling voice dominates the track, intoning assertive, challenging lyrics – this is a time for change, ‘so whatchu gonna do?’ The dark, brooding theme punches home the thought-provoking message.
The announcement and single drop ahead of Drumcode X Drumsheds (Saturday 22nd March), Drumcode’s second instalment at the iconic venue, featuring Adam Beyer b2b Vintage Culture (for the first time ever in the UK), plus a list of DC luminaries; Drumcode’s London Pop Up event (more details TBA); and a live stream from DJ Mag HQ coming early April. All this builds up to 2026, the year of DC30, aka 30 years of Drumcode – no doubt with intensive celebrations to mark such a milestone in music.
