There is a moment in every summer when the right record lands at exactly the right time, and Kidoo has delivered one of those moments. The Romanian talent makes his debut on Sound D’Elite, the house-leaning imprint founded by Ilario Alicante, with a double A-side release that captures everything that has made him one of the most exciting names to rise out of Romania in recent years.

Based in Cluj, Kidoo has built his reputation on a groove-driven sound that sits comfortably between house and minimal foundations. His rise has been rapid, with releases landing on respected labels such as Solid Grooves, Cuttin’ Headz, COCO, BotaniQ, and Mindshake, alongside performances at some of the most revered venues and festivals in the world, including DC10, Hi Ibiza, Amnesia, Sunwaves, and Caprices. Fresh from a recent run across the United States, he continues to prove his ability to balance high-impact energy with a deep, rolling groove.

The release leads with ‘Poem’, a track that blends percussive, dubbed-out textures with a bassline that feels like it could roll on forever. Drawing on a hint of 90s hip-hop nostalgia, soft whispers and woozy digital hums drift through the arrangement, giving the record a hypnotic, late-night character that rewards patient listening on a proper system. On the flip, ‘In Transit’ brings slick vocals and warping sonics into focus, with snappy snares pushing the track forward and setting it up perfectly for the middle of a peak-time adventure.

For Sound D’Elite, the addition of Kidoo feels like a natural fit. Since launching in 2024, Ilario Alicante’s imprint has carved out a space dedicated to the groovier, housier side of his musical world, and ‘Poem’ slots neatly into that vision. It is a confident debut from an artist who keeps moving from strength to strength, and a fitting summer statement from a label that keeps raising the bar.

You can now listen to the full premiere of ‘Poem’ exclusively on When We Dip. Enjoy!
