Marginalia opens a new chapter with the ‘Save Me’ Remix Album, a seven track reimagining of Liminal MX’s debut album that first arrived on the Barcelona label back in December 2024. That original record was a milestone, the imprint’s very first album and a real leap of faith in a young artist from Guadalajara who was barely eighteen at the time. Two years on, label founder ELIF has gathered seven artists from across the electronic spectrum to revisit the music, each one chosen for a genuine connection to Marginalia, to ELIF, or to Liminal MX himself.

Setting the tone for the whole project is Mustafa Ismaeel, who takes on the album’s intro track ‘Hold Forever’. The Toronto based producer has built a reputation across heavyweight labels such as Bedrock and Crosstown Rebels, and he brings that signature groove to his rework here. Rather than overpowering the source material, Ismaeel lets the original live vocals breathe while gently steering the track into warmer, more club ready territory. It is a confident opener that doubles as a statement of just how wide Marginalia’s sonic range really runs.

The original ‘Hold Forever’ is a collaboration between Liminal MX, Baqsy and vocalist Maria Caan, three Mexican talents whose haunting vocals and hypnotic synths gave the album its emotional anchor. Ismaeel’s version honours that feeling while opening the door to the dancefloor, offering a different entry point into a body of work that means a great deal to everyone involved.

As for the label itself, Marginalia was founded in 2023 by Istanbul born, Barcelona based DJ and producer ELIF, and built entirely on instinct, taste and a commitment to giving emerging artists a platform. The ‘Save Me’ Remix Album also marks the label’s third visual chapter, introducing a fresh aesthetic direction while staying unmistakably Marginalia.

You can now listen to the full premiere of ‘Hold Forever’ exclusively on When We Dip. Enjoy!
