A new independent imprint is emerging from Montréal with a vision that extends beyond the dancefloor. Founded by creative partners PFL76 and Gabey, Wide Shut Records makes its debut with Clockwork—a hypnotic and thought-provoking first release that introduces both the label’s sonic direction and its broader artistic philosophy.

Designed as more than just a platform for electronic music, Wide Shut Records aims to create immersive works that encourage listeners to reflect on the human condition and the world around them. Themes of love, science, spirituality, and personal discovery will serve as recurring threads throughout the label’s catalogue, giving each release a place within a larger creative narrative.

The inaugural release, Clockwork, reflects that vision. Built around minimalist grooves, deep textures, and carefully sculpted atmospheres, the track balances raw underground energy with a sense of introspection. Its futuristic aesthetic and patient progression make for an immersive listening experience, offering an early glimpse into the label’s distinctive identity.

Behind the project, PFL76 draws on more than 25 years of experience as an audio engineer, having worked in several Montréal recording studios before dedicating himself to his own artistic output. His productions combine precise sound design with hypnotic rhythms, creating music that feels both functional on the dancefloor and rich in detail.

Alongside him is Gabey, a Montréal-based visual artist and founder of Gabey Studios Inc. His artistic approach explores the unseen through colour, sound, and visual expression, seeking to bridge the gap between inner experience and the physical world. Together, the duo combine their respective disciplines to build a project where music and visual art evolve hand in hand.

While Clockwork marks only the beginning, Wide Shut Records arrives with a remarkably clear sense of purpose. Rather than chasing trends, the label is setting out to build a carefully curated body of work, one where every release contributes to a deeper conversation through sound.
