The Beatyard: Top 5 Acts to see

When We Dip
Dublin, Events, News
30 July 2015

The Beatyard has its first outing on the shores of Dun Laoghaire Harbour this weekend, and we’ve put our heads together here at WWD HQ to decide the top 5 acts we’re going to see over Saturday and Sunday!

Optimo b2b Mister Saturday Night

We must admit, we’ve been looking forward to this b2b, featuring JD Wilkes of Optimo and Derry man Eamon Harkin of Mister Saturday Night, since the lineup was announced back in June. Two absolute legends of the Glasgow and NYC scenes respectively, Saturday’s two hour set from these two seasoned selectors is absolutely unmissable.

Sister Sledge

We would be remiss to leave out the disco foursome. Known to many through killer remixes from the likes of Dimitri From Paris and Late Nite Tuff Guy, these are not to be missed for some euphoric nostalgia. You’ll find us front and centre for their closing set on the Hidden Agenda Stage on Saturday night!

Madlib

While certainly not house or techno, we wouldn’t feel right without mentioning hip hop legend Madlib. A long-time collaborator with the late great J Dilla, he’s already played Parklife and Outlook Festival this summer, fans are sure to be treated from eclectic selections. Unfortunately this one overlaps with JD Wilkes b2b Eamon Harkin, but if you’re looking for something a little different, be sure to check out even a half hour of this master’s set.

Horse Meat Disco

Be sure to arrive early on Sunday to catch London’s finest disco operators deliver an hour and a half of out-and-out disco jams. No more needs to be said, but prepare yourself for a groovy Sunday afternoon.

Four Tet

Last but most certainly not least is Kieran Hebden, known to you and I as Four Tet. The Text Records‘ head honcho has only just released a brand new LP on his own imprint, to widespread critical acclaim, and his eclectic sets in the now-defunct Shoreditch venue Plastic People were the stuff of legend. Don’t miss out on this man closing the festival on the Hidden Agenda Stage on Sunday night.

Tickets can still be bought HERE.
