Future Primitive Brings Dixon and DJ Tennis to DTLA for 7 hours of B2B Action

When We Dip
Events, North America
22 June 2018

Two of the most important labels of the last decade in underground electronic music have been Germany’s Innervisions and Italy’s Life & Death, led by Dixon and DJ Tennis respectively. Both are masterful curators whose singular emotive tastes have turned them into two of the world’s most admired selectors and label owners. The duo play a special open to close sunset set at the debut block-party from Future Primitive, in the historic Gin Ling Way in LA’s Chinatown.

Dixon has been building his name and plying his craft since the 90s in Berlin, an obsessive DJ with an incredible attention to detail, his emphasis on rigorous selections and emotion over function, have turned himself and Innervisions into two of the biggest names in dance music, earning him four consecutive number one spots on Resident Advisor’s top 100 poll. He has emerged as a creative force outside the booth, trailblazing a path with immersive Innervisions events, that have taken over remote islands, ancient castles and other impeccably researched far-flung locales.

DJ Tennis is a punk. A rebellious, curious soul who has remained fiercely independent. He came of age tour-managing guitar bands and organizing left-field music events in Italy around the turn of the Millennium while studying computer science, before forming Italy’s first electronic music focused booking agency. In 2010 he established himself as a DJ in his own right, earning a reputation for creating intimacy at the vastest of shows and a sonic-palette that blended soulful dance music with a post-rock aesthetic. He launched Life & Death in 2010, almost immediately helping to turn his fellow Italians Tale of Us into world superstars.

Together, Tennis and Dixon, are two of contemporary dance music’s most singular talents. This unique extended mid-summer sunset performance will give attendees the chance to catch them in their element, and in the unique surroundings of the open-air plaza of Chinatown’s historic Gin Ling Way.

The Future Primitive LA event will be Dixon’s only LA performance of the year.
