Following the intergalactic odyssey of their first release, Hi Quality Records are back for round two. Switching to hyperdrive for another blast round the sun with two feel-good, cosmic channelling, disco burners from the mighty More Amour aka Artwork and Jon Solo.

Cruising out across the cosmos ‘Solar Flair’ is a sublime slice of boogie brilliance, with an infectious bassline and keys to match. Turning the heat up to 10 with Jon Solo on the solos, spiritually working those keys as Artwork conjures up his magic at the production controls. If you could drop the top on this spaceship and roll those windows down, this is definitely the groovin’, head bobber you’d have soundtracking your beam across the interplanetary highways.

With that non-existent breeze flowing over your spacesuit, ‘Heatwave’ ramps up proceedings on the B side. A funk-fuelled trip where sweltering Rodgers-esque riffs and slap basslines dance around string stabs and smile-inducing chords, with a signature spellbinding synth solo to top it all off. Break glass in case of emergency, this is your ticket out of any subdued dancefloor.

WWD: Thank you for joining us on Little Talk. Tell us, who are More Amour?

WWD: How far back in time do you both go and did you always know you were going to make great music together?

We go back over 20 years and always knew we’d do this eventually.

WWD: Tell us about the birth of Hi Quality Records Inc and its intention?

It all started during lockdown when we both had free time on our hands and we realised we finally had the time to make the music we had always wanted to make, with no deadlines, no expectations etc. Just making music we love. We wanted a label to release it on and decided to call it Hi Quality everything on it will be!

WWD: The second release on your label is about to drop. What would you like to say about these two dynamic cuts?

We’d like to think the music speaks for itself.

WWD: What are you most proud of with this record?

We’re most proud of the fact that we just made music that has no compromise at all. It’s what we wanted to make and we’re over the moon if other people think it’s great too.

WWD: I mean no offence when I say, it sounds like I’ve heard it before. I mean this as a compliment! What is the secret to giving a release such depth and providence with it being all original music?

We always try to use the very best equipment, studios and musicians and spend a ridiculous amount of time getting the tracks right. We’ve both always listened to and been influenced by the greatest producers and musicians of the last 50 years and hopefully that shows.

WWD; Can you share any news about number three?

Again, it will 100% be the highest quality music that is available to mankind.

WWD: Both working in the industry for some time – What drives you to continue to create music?

The most addictive thing in the world is sitting in room collaborating with someone at that moment when you both realise all the parts have come together and you’re jumping around like ‘THAT’S the shit!’

WWD: What has been More Amour’s most important moment from this last year?

Playing Glastonbury to a crowd who didn’t really know who we were and had not heard our music and the feedback was incredible.

WWD: Can you tell us about your live set and when and where we can see it?

Essentially, it’s an Artwork DJ set with live keys from Jon. We recorded all the tracks we’ve made without the top line on, so Jon can play these live.

These are spread through the set but at the same time Art can loop up one part of a record he’s playing and Jon will freestyle over the top, creating something completely new.

We will be doing some More Amour all-night parties very soon and are working out several club and festival dates too.

WWD: What are the values and mission for More Amour?

Make music of such high quality it will bring about World peace. And have a lovely time.

WWD: Tell us something we would never know about you two?

Jon toured the world playing keys with Imagination in the 90s and Arthur invented the internet but was late putting the patent in by one week.
