Yet More is a talented French artist who is flying at the moment! With a massive track “Erotic Trip” recently released on esteemed label Innervisions, and also a recent “Amoro” EP on AZZUR, he really is a man of the moment to check out for the rest of 2023. We caught up with him recently to find out more, and what’s coming up for the rest of the year…
WWD: Hey Yet More, it’s nice to be able to chat with you. Tell us a little about you, where are you from and where do you live at the moment?
Hey! Thanks for taking the time to chat with me. I was born in Paris to an Iranian father & a Syrian mother. Currently I mostly live in my studio [laughs].
WWD: That’s an eclectic mix! We’d like to start by saying congratulations for releasing ‘Erotic Trip’ on esteemed label Innervisions. How did that come about?
I would perhaps say perseverance? I’ve been an ‘Innervisionar’ for a while. When I started producing decent tracks, I sent them to Dixon & Âme. At first, they wouldn’t even download… And one day, I got an email from Kristian asking to sign ‘Erotic Trip’. Special moment!
WWD: It seems like ‘Erotic Trip’ is one of the best performing tracks of the VA. What is it that sets it apart from the rest?
If I were to check out a compilation & choose which track to listen to according to the name, I’d probably click on ‘Erotic Trip’ [laughs]. Jokes aside, I would say simplicity. It’s a clean 808 kit, an electric sequence & a recognisable sample. Very straight to the point & proper dancefloor sweater.
WWD: Indeed, the record contains samples of a woman moaning… we won’t ask who! What was the inspiration behind the track?
I played right before Reznik (Keinemusik) one night in Paris. He played Ben Sterling’s ‘Mind Dimension’ remix. I hadn’t heard it in a while & was reminded of how efficient that kind of sequence is on the dancefloor. The next morning, I made ‘Erotic Trip’ in a few hours. Clubbing is a great source of inspiration!
WWD: You’ve also recently released ‘Amoro’ on French label Azzur. These two tracks are fairly different. Is there a reason behind this?
Although I know a lot of producers are on a relentless quest to find their very own distinctive sound, that’s not really where I’m heading. I don’t want to be stuck in a box or a niche. I wanna have fun exploring & digging into my wide array of influences (R&B, Hip-Hop, Soul, Rock) to produce new music.
WWD: That’s interesting. So, what can we expect when attending a Yet More gig?
I’d say it mostly depends on my mood & the venue. I like to be unexpected & surprising.
WWD: Where can fans catch you next? Any special upcoming gigs you’re particularly excited about?
I know you guys are from Canada; I’ll be playing there on the 16th-17th of June, most probably in Montreal and Vancouver! I’m also very excited about opening for the Keinemusik crew in Athens on September 10th.
WWD: Great ones. We hope to catch you here indeed! Before letting you go, can you tell us about any upcoming releases? Anything crunchy hitting the shelves soon?
My next release is an EP on Melodic Diggers’s label Equanimity. I can also say I’ve got two more EPs coming up later this year on Siamese and Renaissance… stay tuned!
WWD: Very exciting stuff. We’re looking forward to new music. Thank you so much for your time, we wish you the best for the future.
