Gabey, a Montréal based visual artist and founder of Gabey Studios Inc., channels liminal expressions of colour and sound, seeking to express the unseen and rebuild his waking world through art. Together they craft a body of work rooted in minimalism, where every element serves a deeper purpose.

From Gabey’s own words: “I will always remember the day I arrived at the studio last year and PFL76 played me the first demo of this track. The moment I heard the chords, I knew it had the potential to become something special. I had never felt that way about a song before—it was a strange but beautiful feeling.

After a few hours of production, we knew we wanted vocals, but we weren’t sure what would work, so we took a little break. Somehow, a melody suddenly came to me—the ‘da-da da daa’ that would eventually become the melody behind ‘Falling for You.’ While having dinner, we were singing, laughing, and figuring out the hook together.

We kept working on the record for quite some time, as PFL76 is one of the most perfectionist mixing engineers I know. In fact, one of the very last elements we added came shortly before sending the track for mastering—a drum sound from the TR-626. The moment we heard it in the mix, we knew it belonged there. It landed perfectly.

Looking back, it’s funny how some of the best moments in music happen naturally. ‘Falling for You’ wasn’t forced—it simply happened, and I think you can hear that feeling throughout the entire track.”
